Kidderminster Harriers put in their worst display (which Ive seen) this season as they were trounced 4-1 by 23 rd place Macclefield.

Brief report

I wont dwell to much on todays game, as Harriers 4 game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end. Keeper John Danby kept his place ahead of Brock in the Kidder goal whilst Dean Keates was ruled out with a knee injury. Macc went ahead with a Tipton penalty early on and then went on to gain an unassailable 3-0 lead with goals from Carruthers and Harsley. Like everywhere today the game was played in high winds, but that can be no excuse for Harriers. Kidders only attempt of note in the 1st half was a cross shot from Ian Foster.

So after such a poor 1st half could Harriers put in a better show after the break and make an amazing comeback ? The answer was no as Kidder struggled to get anything of the game and MAcc going close to extending their lead on a couple of occasions. They did eventually make it 4 when Tipton converted from close in, teeing himself up for a simple header. Harriers got a consolation goal through Scott Rickards when he broke clear and finished well for his 1st ever goal for Harriers. The sponsors named him man of the match and to be fair he deserved it, despite being a sub.

Much soul searching is required by the whole team now to ensure this doesnt happen again and safety is acheived. Harriers now stand 7 points above Macclefield in the drop zone but Macc have a game in hand. Mind you the bottom is very congested but 2 or 3 wins should see us safe. Lets hope, or make sure, the events of today dont happen again.
