Harriers bounced back from the heavy defeat at Donny to beat Northampton Town at Aggborough. A good win and well deserved as Kidder move up the table a little, still plenty more to do. HARRIERS 2 COBBLERS 1 (BRIEF REPORT)
Harriers boss Jan Molby gave a debut to new loan man Adrian Viveash in defence, with skipper Wayne Hatswell making a surprise appearance after his head injury at Donny. Mark Yates made his 3rd home debut in the middle whilst up front it was John Williams and Ian Foster, with Dean Bennett and Adam Murray joining in where possible.
Harriers fully deserved their win, with Dean Keates opening the scoring with a rasping drive with his right foot on the 1/2 hour. Just before 1/2 time, Harriers nearly went 2 goals up when big John Williams broke clear from a Yates through ball.The big man rounded the keeper but was thwarted by a desperate sliding challenge to prevent a goal.
Into the 2nd half and Harriers doubled their lead almost imidietely. Ian Fosters run on the left took him into the box and he played a good ball across which Dean Bennett hook volleyed home from the edge of the box.Northampton pulled one bakc thropugh the standard corner concedement, when Hargreaves headed home. Despite this Harriers looked comfortable really and went close to adding to the score on numerous occasions. John Williams saw his one on one saved, with Adam Murrays follow up shot easily saved. The lively Dean Bennett nearly grabbed a 2nd but his clever lob bounced up and onto the bar, whilst debutant Viveash saw his close range header easily saved.
So overall a good display from Kiddy with no one having a bad game and a fully deserved 3 points against a form team. Lets hope we can take this into Saturdays clash with York.
