Harriers FC picked up three useful points today against Orient at Aggborough.From now on, where possible,the team who this website is dedicated to, will be known simply as "Harriers"

In some 20 plus years supporting The Harriers, despite today’s vital win, I class today as a let down. Not by the team, or by the few loyal fans that we have got. I feel let down by the town of Kidderminster. As you are all well aware today saw fans without season tickets given the opportunity to obtain vouchers for the forthcoming Wolves game. At first I hoped for a large crowd, perhaps towards the 5000, but then thinking about it, maybe an extra 1000 fans would take advantage of this scheme. Now that scheme seems like a bad idea by the club, but to be honest, something had to be done to ensure the regular fan could get their tickets for arguably our biggest ever game. The ticket scheme did work then, for todays attendance of 2605 surely just contained the standard amount of Harriers fans. I did expect more floaters in, but they chose not to come.

Many fans have complained about the Club cashing in. In not taking up the voucher scheme they have in fact reaffirmed the boards decision to maximize the income for the Wolves game. Despite this being a relatively “high” time for the club, with a massive fixture coming up, the townsfolk still decided not to support them. Just imagine if we were in dire financial trouble, like Cambridge or Port Vale are at the moment. What if the club, in their plight, asked for fans to buy 4 tickets in advance to save us from closure ? Would the town rally round and help ? Kidderminster, the market town without a market ? Would they hell as like.

I could go on for hours, but will now get on to a brief report on the Orient game. Suffice to say, from now on, on this site, I will try to refer to my team as “Harriers”, and will drop the “Kidderminster” from the title, for the town does not deserve such a club, the only thing that the town can take any pride in really. What else is there ?

“Harriers” 2 Orient 1(a very brief report)

Harriers fought back from a goal down today, to earn 3 welcome points against Orient. The red shirted men from North Worcestershire fell behind early on, when a long throw was headed in by Zakunia(& not an own goal as reported by yours truly on Just in). Harriers came back strongly and both Andy White and Dean Bennett both were denied by the O’s keeper. The pressure eventually told and “The town without adequate hospital facilities” drew level on 31 minutes. The O’s keeper pulled off a brilliant save to deny Adie Smith, and the ball was cleared as far as Matt Gadsby, whose cross back into the danger area was diverted into the net by Orient’s Peters.

Harriers pushed on in the 2nd half in search of victory, and Jan made changes in order to bolster the attack. On came Bomber Bo and debutant Scott Rickards. Depsite this, it was defensive midfielder Gadsby who gave the “Cinemaless, but Piano building possessing town” the lead on 66 minutes. Gader’s hooking home on the half volley from inside the area. Harriers had a few chances to increase the lead. Danny Williams forcing the best out their keeper and Rickards going so close, it was even announced as a goal. In the end, “The school closing town, near Birmingham” held out for an important victory. Hopefully Harriers can continue this run and move clear of the relegation places and retain their League stautus. Thus keeping the name of “Kidderminster” in the public spotlight, which may be important because Rowland Hill, died many centuries ago.

Sorry about that, but I've had a bad day. One day, maybe the town will realise. This is not a moan at anyone in particular, just thought that more would be interested.
