Harriers face a difficult game tomorrow against the high flying Swans. Harriers are set to include new man Hatswell in defence, but Britt has failed to sign a striker in time. Can Harriers surprise us and start to turn it round ? SWANS NEXT & NEWS
Well Harriers make the difficult trip to Swansea tomorrow looking to turn around a most depressing start to a season. Manager Ian Britton remains underfire from many supporters and tomorrow is not going to be an easy game for Kidder. Some good news is the signing of Wayne Hatswell from Chester City. Harriers have actually paid a fee for Hatswell, some reports suggest a fee of around £8,000. Hatswell was formerly with Forest Green and Oxford United amongst others and is apparently a commanding centre half. To be honest we could do with more height in the team and lets hope he enjoys a successful time with us. Hatswell could start next season as our only player as he has signed a deal until summer 2005, the only player already signed up for next season, will we still be in the League by then ?
Well its still too early but its not looking good. For tomorrow it looks even worse, with Matt Lewis and John Williams the only available strikers, and with respect they’re not going to strike the fear into 3rd place Swansea are they ? Bo Henriksen, who himself is not enjoying the best of seasons is out for a few weeks with a groin strain. Britt has been on the look out for more players, believed to be an unnamed forward and a keeper, named as Hartlepool’s Anthony Williams in the Express and Star. We definitely need a forward, a keeper, not sure, but hell we need a couple of strikers before any keeper. Britt is still trying to bring new players in, which is a good sign, but we do need action soon.
So the Aggboro soap opera rolls on as we get used to the fact we are in a fight for league status. Many have called for Britt to go, I’m still not sure myself. Before the Carlisle and Southend games I said that 4 points would buy Britt more time for me. Of course, we got 3, which still leaves me wondering. If ever he were to go, I know now who my choice as a replacement would be, but he’s still our boss, so I support him. The current poll asks what you think WILL happen, not what you want but what you think will become of our current plight, have a vote now.
So a difficult game tomorrow, of course the scene of last seasons emphatic 4-0 success, I very much doubt there will be a repeat tomorrow. Earlier in this article I asked “will we still be in the league next season”, obviously not wanting to mention the “r” word. Well I don’t know. Maybe Britt may still be able to turn it round. One thing is for certain, unless the squad is added to, and I’m talking forward line, then we will be “relegated”, There, I’ve said it now. We desperately need a couple of strikers really, and ones which can battle as well, particularly in the air. As well as that, we need them for the season, no one month loans, ok maybe 1 out of 2 but loans wont work, unless its for the rest of the season.
Prediction, I’ve predicted us to lose 3-0, although the optimistic side of me does feel we may get something, but that could only be a draw. In our current circumstances, that would feel like a win. I don’t think I’ll be putting much in my Kiddy Kitty(see link below) tomorrow night.
