Former Manchester United star Peter Davenport has taken up the management reigns at non-league Colwyn Bay.

The 45-year-old departed Welsh Premier outfit Bangor City in December as the club hit a dissappointing run of form. However, the once-capped England international has been quick to find new work and will look to improve the fortunes of the Seagulls, currently plying their trade in the lowly Northern Premier.

"Peter has been impressed with the ambitions of the board to achieve sustained progression through the pyramid and is looking forward to the challenge of leading the Bay," read an official club statement.

"As well as finalising his back room staff, he will be contacting the current squad in the next few days before starting to bring in new recruits ahead of pre season training."

Davenport enjoyed a long and established playing career which included nearly three years at Old Trafford. He also played for Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Airdrie, St.Johnston and Stockport. He went onto player/manage at Macclesfield, and also turned out on a handful of occasions well into his 40's for Bangor.

Good luck to 'Dav'.
