Controversial Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer has been released from hospital after suffering a stroke on Easter Sunday. The news has been made public one-week after the incident which saw the 78-year-old hospitalised at Florida's Cleveland Clinic.

Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer is recovering after suffering a stroke on Easter Sunday.

The 78-year-old is said to be struggling with speech and mobility after the 16th of April attack which saw him admitted to Florida's Cleveland Clinic. The news has seemingly been kept under wraps for sometime, but Glazer’s health is said to be gradually improving.

Glazer took control of Manchester United in May 2005 under controversial circumstances. Many supporters passionately opposed the takeover which plunged MUFC into mammoth debt and was based upon a business plan many saw as flawed.

The American, also owner of NFL franchise Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is yet to attend a game at Old Trafford and has steered well clear of venturing to England since purchasing the club. He has handed responsibility of general business to his three sons Joel, Avi and Bryan.

A club statement simply read: "Doctors expect his condition to improve with rehabilitation."
