Wayne Rooney has been rewarded for a simply stunning Christmas period with the player of the month accolade. The 22-year-old netted five goals during a sensational December which saw the forward double his Premiership goal tally. New Page 5

20-year-old Wayne Rooney has added yet another accolade to his already star-studded career by netting the F.A Premier League player of the month award for December.

The English international has formed a deadly partnership with Ruud Van Nistelrooy which has seen the duo bag an amazing 25 goals already this term. The youngster enjoyed an amazing festive period, doubling his goal tally in the Premiership with five strikes from seven outings.

Rooney's player of the month crown is the second in his trophy cabinet, having won the 'Barclay's Bank' award in February 2005 too.
