Manchester United entertain League Two new-boys Barnet on Wednesday night as the visitors look to work their magic and Old Trafford and cause a massive upset.

Manchester United entertain League Two new-boys Barnet on Wednesday night as the visitors look to work their magic and Old Trafford and cause a massive upset.

Barnet find themselves looming around the bottom of League two, picking up 15 points in as many games but hope to help boost league form with a memorable result against the Red Devils.

The Barnet squad will be wear their original colours of the 1888 "Black & Violets" to mark the club's special occasion.

United are set to send out a mixture of youth, experience and players who're just returning from an injury. The likes of Wes Brown, Louis Saha and Giuseppe Rossi are all set for the nod to play on Wednesday.

Kieran Richardson is also hopeful to mark his new United contract with a start against Barnet after suffering an injury while on international duty with England recently. The 21-year-old also commented the Carling Cup is vital for young Red Devils.

"It's really important for the young players. Sir Alex has been known to use the competition to give youngsters a chance, which really helps your development," he said.

"It's always going through your mind - as a young player you look at the League Cup fixtures and wonder if you'll get your chance to show what you can do.

"It's a great experience, not only to show the coaches what you can do, but also the fans. It's a great feeling playing in front of a big crowd. It’s something you’re not really used to playing in the Reserves. It all helps your development."

Richardson, now a full England international, used to use the Carling Cup as his start to a United career and is impressed with the current talent emerging from reserve and youth teams. He added: "We've got a lot of good young players at the club. Everyone is talking about Giuseppe Rossi, but he's not the only one. I think you will continue to see young players coming through."

Team News: 
As mentioned, Kieran Richardson, Wes Brown and Louis Saha are both likely to feature after overcoming injuries. Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Gabriel Heinze are still in the treatment room meanwhile.

Expect to see the likes of Sylvain Ebanks-Blake, Lee Martin, Gerard Pique and Giuseppe Rossi on display tomorrow.

United should progress to the next round but Barnet will be up for this match and give it their all. 3-1 United.
