Wayne Rooney, Kieran Richardson, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith have all earned a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's England select who face two final World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Poland.

Despite admitting his own England international career is dead and buried, Alan Smith has earned a recall ahead of Charlton Athletic's in-form Danny Murphy.

Smith rejected Sven's invitation to join up with the squad for last month's qualifiers with Wales and Northern Ireland, but has now been given another chance to revive himself on the international scene.

England face Austria on October 8th and then Poland on October 12th.
