Former Manchester United forward Ramon Calliste has signed for rivals Liverpool. The 19-year-old was always well-regarded amongst the coaching staff at Old Trafford but was released over the summer after failing to break into the first-team, and went onto spend time with Colchester United and Dunfermline as he searched for a new club.

Calliste, a Welsh Under-21 international, was not interested in a move down the divisions despite interest from a whole host of clubs. His delaying tactics have secured the teenager a move to Unity's arch-rivals and European Cup holders Liverpool, only weeks after Calliste reluctantly rejected a £450-a-week contract offer from Colchester.

After impressing on a trial period where Calliste scored for the Scouse reserves, Liverpool have gambled and snapped up the youngster permanently. He has signed a 1-year deal and could make a shock return to Old Trafford this season as Liverpool look to better last season's 5th-placed finish in the Premiership.

The news of the transfer has alerted Welsh boss John Toshack who could add Calliste to his senior squad in the future.
I'd love to wish the striker good luck in the Premiership, but as he's joined Liverpool!
