West Bromwich Albion boss Bryan Robson has claimed that Kieran Richardson's inclusion in the England national squad that tours the United States of America this summer is down to his heroics for the Baggies and would not be the player he is now if it wasn't for his move to the Hawthorns.

Robson, a United legend, guided West Brom to Premiership safety on the last day of the season with the help of on-loan Richardson, who is now back at Old Trafford.

However, Robson is hopeful he can sort out a deal. "If he had still been playing in Manchester United's reserves he would not have been in the England squad," said Robson. "We did a lot of work with him when he arrived from United."

"West Brom have given him that platform to get into the England team.

"Kieran is ambitious and I understand that, he will have a hell of a task getting into the United first team.

"That is why I am hopeful we will get him back." 

With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and the returning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to operate down the flanks next season, chances will indeed prove slim for the former West Ham youngster.

A number of other Premiership clubs are also monitoring Richardson.
