Manchester United duo Ryan Giggs and Tim Howard have banished rumours circulating about their Red Devils career by inking new contract deals.

Both Giggs and Howard have been the subject of major transfer talk recently, but have now put to bed all rumours to brighten up a dark week at Old Trafford.

Welshman Giggs has agreed to stay a Red until 2008 while goalkeeper Tim Howard put pen-to-paper on a deal that expires in 2009.

"Ryan has been a fantastic servant and it is comforting to know that he will be here for another three years, possibly ending his career at United," A buoyant Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed. "To think he joined as a 13-year-old boy and to be at a club for 20 years is unique in this era,"

"Tim is a young, gifted goalkeeper who is progressing all the time and needs experience playing in our league. This extended contract gives Tim the opportunity to progress in his career."

Giggs, 31, seems to have defeated United's contract policy of not offering players over 30 deals longer than 12 months and is delighted to have committed his future. "I always wanted to stay and I am happy that everything has worked out."

USA international goalkeeper Tim Howard has also expressed satisfaction in inking a new deal. "I have enjoyed my time so far with Manchester United but you recognise you are always learning," said Howard.

"The fans here are amazing and I am happy to be committing my future to the club."
