Fletcher Close to Reds Return

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is edging closer and closer to full training following a problematic knee ligament injury he sustained in February's derby game with Manchester City.

The Scotsman claims he'll be in full training by the end of the week, but doesn't want to rush back into action and suffer yet another set-back. The injury also ruled him out of his country's World Cup Qualifying game with Italy in Milan.

He said: "Hopefully it won't be too long,"

"I have been running for a few weeks but striking the ball has been a problem and a few little niggles have put me back"

"I don't want to rush back too soon, but I should start full training later this week and it shouldn't take me more than a couple of reserve games to get me back in the swing of things"

Fletcher, 21, has endured a stop-start season so far this term, making 13 Premiership starts.
