Manchester Untied manager Sir Alex Ferguson has given up the little hope he has left trying to catch the Premiership's run-away leaders Chelsea and has set his sights on second spot.

Following United's goalless draw with Blackburn Rovers yesterday, Ferguson admits it will be a massive task to over-take Jose Mourinho's fleet, who need just 3 wins to secure their first Football League title in 50 years.

"It is going to be very difficult for us now and second spot is the real priority for us now." he declared. "You do not win league titles with performances like that [Blackburn Rovers game]"

"You can forget Chelsea, that's for sure" he added. 

The Scotsman also confirmed that he will ring in the changes against relegation-threatened Norwich City and alter his impotent strike force. "I am going to pick a different team next week. There are one or two players like Louis Saha and Alan Smith who need a game and then we will see how things look for the FA Cup Semi-Final [against Newcastle United]"

Ryan Giggs however is ruled out for the Millennium Stadium show-down, and Ferguson hopes Ruud van Nistelrooy's match practice will aid the goals he's failed to find. "Ruud travelled to Romania last weekend and had another game on Wednesday, so they are coming thick and fast for him now"
