United youngster Sylvan Ebanks-Blake cruelly suffered a broken leg whilst in action for the reserves' 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on Thursday night. The powerful striker underwent a successful operation on the fibula bone, the club confirmed. Hobbs in Trouble

Blake Suffers Injury Shocker

Manchester United youngster Sylvan Ebanks-Blake cruelly suffered a broken leg whilst in action for the reserves' 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on Thursday night.

The powerful striker underwent a successful operation on the fibula bone, located in the leg, almost straight after the collision, the club confirmed.

An Old Trafford spokesman said: "Sylvan underwent an operation on Thursday night. The operation went well but he will miss the rest of the season."

On a lighter note, the 18-year old and striking partner Giuseppe Rossi netted to earn the second-string an impressive victory.

Cambridge born Blake had been tipped to go out on-loan to the lower leagues in order to gain vital match practice, but that is now on hold until next season at least.
