Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs will mark earning his 50th senior appearance for his country, Wales, by wearing the captain's armband for new boss John Toshack's first game in charge of the national squad.

Toshack and his boys are looking to use Wednesday's friendly with Hungary to bond and get ready to re-start their up-hill battle to qualify for the World Cup in 2006.

Giggs, 31, also banished rumours saying that he will retire from international football to concentrate on his remaining years at Old Trafford.

''It's going to be very difficult for us to qualify for the World Cup now. We'll try but John [Toshack] is looking long term rather than short term.'I still want to be around for the next European Championship." stated Giggs

He added: ''I did discuss my international future with Sir Alex Ferguson after the Poland game but he urged me to carry on."

''We've lost a lot of experience in some of the lads who have retired, so it's very important for the experienced players to help out the younger ones, perhaps not used to it at all.''
