Manchester United's Premiership clash with arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday will decide the future of goalkeeper Roy Carroll, reports have emerged today claiming.

Shot-stopper Carroll will make his final contract offer decision after the Liverpool fixture as he will see if boss Sir Alex Ferguson has full faith in him after his blunder against Tottenham Hotspur recently.

Ferguson has always been reluctant in handing the Ulsterman the full-time role in-between the sticks and often reverts back to Tim Howard for the goalkeeping job.

Carroll's agent Francis Martin has clarified the situation, saying: "We are getting close to a situation where Roy must decide what he wants," 

"He wants the matter sorting out and so do the club, so we will have one final round of talks and after that it will be a case of putting a deal on the table and saying either yes or no."

"His number one priority has always been to stay at Manchester United and that is still the case. But once this deal is in writing, we have to accept it won't be there forever and he will only have a certain amount of time to decide what to do."
