United have delayed the loan-deal of Jonathan Spector to neighbours Blackburn due to to a lack of defensive cover following John O'Shea's thigh strain he picked up against Aston Villa. The 18-year-old was set to make the transition to Ewood Park as the window opened. Hobbs in Trouble

Spector Deal Put on Hold

Manchester United have delayed the loan-deal of Jonathan Spector to neighbours Blackburn due to to a lack of defensive cover following John O'Shea's thigh strain he picked up against Aston Villa earlier this week.

Eighteen-year-old Spector was set to make the transition to Ewood Park to solve their defensive errors as soon as the window opened but will seal the move later in the month.

"I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson on Friday and they have had a few injury concerns," Rovers boss Mark Hughes admitted.
 
Welshman Hughes added: "When the situation at United eases, then maybe in the middle of January we will be able to bring him in." 

The versatile defender, who picked up the prestigious accolade of the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year Award last season, has also been linked with a similar loan switch to struggling West Brom but will move to Blackburn for the rest of the season shortly.
