Cambridge United ‘keeper John Ruddy has been invited back for a second trial at Old Trafford. The highly-regarded 18-year-old spent a short time with the F.A Cup holders earlier in the season, and will now make a reserve-team outing. Manchester United have handed a trial to Cambridge United ‘keeper John Ruddy. At the tender age of 18, Ruddy is already first-choice goalkeeper at the Abbey Stadium, and has been invited back to Old Trafford by Sir Alex Ferguson for a second trial.

Ruddy spent a short spell at United earlier in the season, joining in with a few training sessions. He clearly impressed, as he has been asked back for a longer time period and will play between the sticks for the reserves on Wednesday evening.

"He's up there for them to have a good look at him," said Cambridge caretaker boss Ricky Duncan.
