Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll has revealed that he is determined to stay Old Trafford's number one goalkeeper, despite fierce completion from American Tim Howard and a major goalkeeping blunder against Lyon recently.

It seems French outfit Lyon have a tendency to make fools out of United's goalkeepers in the Champions League as both Carroll and former number 1 Tim Howard have both made shameful errors against them.

Howard's punishment was so severe that, consequently, the American has yet to play a Premiership or Champions League game since for The Red Devils.

However, Carroll hopes the curse won't fall upon him, promising: "It came straight at me and I tried to get down on it and I know I should have done better"

"It was an error but I just have to forget about it and get on with the game. Goalkeepers make mistakes but you just have to get on with your job."

Regarding his refusal to sign a new United contract, the Ulsterman added: "I don't want to talk about my contract," - keeping his future a mystery.
