A number of Manchester United players were in World Cup Qualifying action and international friendly action this week for their respective national sides.

As for World Cup Qualifiers, Winger Cristiano Ronaldo netted for Portugal as Luiz Felipe Scolari's side hammered hapless Luxembourg 5-0 thanks to goals from Ronaldo, Maniche, a Pauleta double and a Luxembourg own goal.

Striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was taken off as a precaution for Holland after aggravating a hamstring injury during their 3-0 victory over Andorra. Chelsea forward Arjen Robben, along with Wes Sneijder and Philip Cocu sealed the victory.

However, The Red Devils involved in international friendlies weren't so fortunate with their results. With no Mikael Silvestre, France were held at home by Poland. Louis Saha started but was eventually substituted.

Midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba was dismissed for Cameroon during their 3-0 defeat to Germany. Cameroon's manager was relieved of his managerial duties shortly after the result.
