Manchester United's assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has warned the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo to be aware of the 'dangerous people' associated with football.

The former Real Madrid and South Africa boss returned to the helm of Sir Alex Ferguson's No.2 after a very unsuccessful spell in Spain.

Speaking in an interview, the Portuguese coach said: "Young players have dangerous people around them,"

He continued: "They are not dangerous because they are bad but because the only two words they use are 'yes' and 'maybe'."

"Sometimes at 17 and 18 you prefer those words rather than 'no'. But you have to say 'no' and later they will understand."

"One level is very crucial in a footballer's life and that is between the ages of 18 and 21 when the mental side of the game starts to make a huge impact on your career."

"We have great hopes for Rooney and Ronaldo, they have a lot of things to learn and, if they listen to the right people, they can become great players, among the best in Europe, the best in the world."
