Manchester United new-boy Gabriel Heinze has backed his decision to play in the Olympic Games much to the disapproval of new boss Sir Alex Ferguson. The £7million man has had a very eventful summer and is likely to be rested when the Olympics is over. Hobbs in Trouble

Manchester United new-boy Gabriel Heinze has backed his decision to play in the Olympic Games much to the disapproval of new boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The £7million man has had a very eventful summer and is likely to be rested when the Olympics is over after playing in the games and Copa America.

Heinze's Argentina are hot-favourites to pick up the gold-medal in Athens and have cruised to victories over Serbia and Montenegro, Tunisia and Australia.

"I know what the coach has said and it does not worry me at all," said the 26-year old defender.


"I am not affected by it. I really wanted to be here and play for my country - it was very important to play for Argentina for me.

"Playing in the Copa America and now here means I have had a busy summer, but I like it,"

He added: "It's a great honour to be selected to play for Argentina and I wanted to be here."
