Manchester United striker Diego Forlan
was on-target for his country Uruguay last night, firing in the opener
just after the hour mark to guide his nation to a 2-1 Copa America victory
over Ecuador.
Old Trafford new-boy Gabriel Heinze also represented his country, playing a full 90 minutes in Argentina's 1-0 defeat by the hands of a sharp Mexico. £7.5 million man Forlan forgot the embarrassment of his last game and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed piledriver from outside the box. Heinze on the other hand had to endure a 1-0 loss and also picked up a yellow card for his troubles. Forlan's Uruguay now top Group B with 4 points and are yet to play Heinze's Argentina, who are sitting in 3rd position behind Mexico in 2nd. |
