Scholes Ends Drought in Final Group Game

Manchester United's Paul Scholes finally ended his three-year international goal drought as England fought back to beat Croatia 4-2 and progress to the quarter-finals. Fellow Group B opponents France also made the quarters and beat a battling Switzerland 3-1. Hobbs in Trouble

Scholes Ends Drought in Final Group Game
Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes finally ended his three-year international goal drought as England fought back to beat Croatia 4-2 and progress to the quarter-finals.

Fellow Group B opponents France also made the quarters and beat a battling Switzerland 3-1. Louis Saha and Mikael Silvestre were both used by Jacques Santini for the final group game.

Thierry Henry finally found his feet in the tournament and was just one goal off a hat-trick as Zinedine Zidane struck early for the French.

Everton teenager Wayne Rooney grabbed the headlines however following his double whammy of goals to extinguish an early fire the Croatians started. Frank Lampard rounded the 6-goal fixture off with 11 minutes to spare. 

Phil Neville made his Euro 2004 debut after replacing Frank Lampard with 6 minutes remaining.
