Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher captained the Scots to a much-needed victory over Estonia on Thursday evening. James McFadden netting the only goal of the game to secure a rare away win for Bertie Vogts' side.

Manchester United's developing midfielder Darren Fletcher added another tremendous honour to his achievements list on Thursday night only days after he proudly lifted the F.A Cup at the Millennium Stadium. The 19-year-old captained Scotland in the absence of Barry Ferguson and Christian Dailly, as Bertie Vogts' side won their first away game in almost 2 years with a steady 1-0 victory in Estonia.

Everton winger James McFadden netted the only goal of the game fourteen minutes from time which was the least the Scots deserved after a first-half of dominance to the delight of the Tartan Army, who have seen their nation struggle in recent months. Berti Vogts will hope he can build on a solid performance and pleasing result against the Estonians and take Scotland into the World Cup qualification matches with some confidence.

"I've relished every minute of this week, but I know that experienced players like Christian Dailly and Barry Ferguson will come back in." said Fletcher after the game, clearly showing immense pride at having pulled on the skippers' arm band.

"It was a great night. Everybody was magnificent and we played good stuff. We'd been working in training on passing and moving and we knew that if we got it going, they wouldn't be able to live with us."
