Sir Alex Surprised At Keane Call-Up
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he is surprised that his skipper Roy Keane was called up for Ireland's clash with Poland next week in an international friendly.

Keane was called up by Republic of Ireland boss Brian Kerr just days after he made a dramatic return for his country after walking out in the World Cup after a row with former boss Mick McCarthy.

"I was not aware that he would be travelling to Poland," admitted Ferguson

"I think Roy is in control of the situation and he knows exactly what is needed."

"I am sure between himself and Brian Kerr they will make sure it is right. He needs games anyway after the time he has missed recently."

The 32-year old midfielder is just 2 games off his 60th appearance for his native Ireland and wants to help his country get back on track after failing to qualify for Euro 2004.
