Manchester United striker Diego Forlan is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer after failing to impress since his £7.5 million move to United from Argentine outfit Independiente in the January sales of 2002.

The Uruguay international has bagged only 17 goals in 93 appearances for the Red Devils and his reaction to being substituted at Leicester earlier this week angered boss Sir Alex Ferguson after he stormed into the dugout and never returned.

Various Spanish clubs such as Real Betis and Seville have reportedly made opening bids of just over £2 million for the 24-year old with Spain being his preferred destination.

The arrival of strikers of David Bellion and £12 million Frenchman Louis Saha hasn't helped Forlan get games under his belt and now wants to move on to help his career.

"It is difficult for me," admitted Forlan.

"When you get a run like I did before Christmas, then that stops and you have to come back, it is not easy." he continued.

"You play one game, then are out for three or four and sometimes you are sub, it is hard."

"You have to work hard, try to keep going and be ready for the next time when you have a chance."
