French international Mikael Silvestre is confident of returning to action for United's European Cup clash against Porto on March 9th. The defender was injured during the 1-1 draw with Leeds United, but is recovering better than expected which is a major boost for Sir Alex Ferguson. New Page 2

Silvestre Confident of Porto Return
Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre is hoping to return early from the ankle ligament injury he sustained during United's 1-1 draw with Leeds United, and is confident about being back in time for the European Cup second round second-leg clash against Porto on March 9th.

The news will come as welcome relief to Sir Alex Ferguson, who will be without the suspended Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane for the second-leg. United's defensive frailties were the main reason behind the defeat in Portugal, and the experience of Silvestre will be a major boost.

"It is looking good and I am looking forward to training again at the end of the week." said Silvestre.

"I should be fit for Porto, maybe even before. For Porto, I think I will definitely be in the squad."
