Sir Alex Ferguson is set to name a mixed-bag of players for United's visit to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round of the League Cup.

The Midlands outfit will be tough opposition for United. Gary Megson's side currently top the First Division, and look well equipped to return to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

Following a few seasons of neglect, United seem to be taking the League Cup seriously again, and despite Sir Alex not naming a full-strength side on Wednesday night, several first-team players are expected to be in action.

Kieran Richardson, Danny Pugh, Chris Eagles and Mark Lynch are all likely to start for the Red Devils and they have the back-up and experience of Quinton Fortune, Nicky Butt, on-form striker Diego Forlan and Gary Neville to help.

West Brom striker Scott Dobie has gained full fitness and is set to start upfront for the Baggies. Paul Robinson, who is cup-tied, is set to be replaced by Neil Clement.

One to Watch - Jason Koumas

The Welsh international, recently named the Division 1 Player Of The Month, has been in fine form lately scoring 3 goals in 2 matches for the Baggies.

Koumas will take the title ' Welsh-Wizard' as Ryan Giggs is not likely to play.
