United's Academy Sides Both In Action

Manchester United’s under-19’s were in action last Saturday when they took on archrivals Arsenal.

The U-19 side, managed by ex-United player Brain McClair, strolled to a comfortable 4-0 win with Sylvan Embanks-Blake being the dominant force upfront. Embanks-Blake scored twice- one on the 20th minute, and again on the 25th minute. Captain David Jones slotted a 3rd home, and then young Welsh striker Ramon Calliste killed off the game on the 82nd minute.

Last year, the U19’s won the prestigious FA Youth Cup 3-1 on aggregate against Middlesbrough. United won the first leg 2-0 at the Riverside, and drew 1-1 at Old Trafford. Current and former United stars like Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best, the Neville’s, David Beckham, and Ryan Giggs have all won this prestigious trophy in the past.

The U19’s next game will be on Saturday against Bristol City U19, at Moss Lane.

The under-17’s were also in action against the Gunners on Saturday, and won 3-2. Goals from Aaron Burns, and one from Phil Marsh secured the win for Francisco Filho’s men.
