England frontman Jamie Vardy has said Manchester United were "clinical" as they claimed a Community Shield victory over his Leicester City side on Sunday.

Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were on target for United, as the Red Devils claimed a narrow 2-1 win to get their hands on the Shield for the 21st time.

Vardy himself had restored parity shortly after the half-time break, but Swedish target man Ibra marked his debut with a winning header.

The Foxes forward said:

"They didn't have too many chances, but they were clinical. The result is disappointing, but we need to be proud of the performance."

Defending champions Leicester will be hoping to bounce back from the Community Shield defeat as they travel to Hull on Saturday, whilst the Red Devils kick-off league life under Jose Mourinho against AFC Bournemouth.
