Manchester United booked their place in the second round of the Lancashire Senior Cup, as they came from two goals behind to beat Accrington Stanley.
Two United players who featured in the Premier League win over Everton were involved, with Tyler Blackett and James Wilson in action for the second-sting. For Stanley, meanwhile, Lee Molyneux and Josh Windass had playeed in their recent League Two win over Mansfield Town.
Liam Goulding and John Roberts handed the hosts a two-goal lead after 22 minutes, sparking Warren Joyce's lacklustre Reds into action.
Will Keane grabbed two goals before the break, on his way to a hat-trick. First, he slotted home after some impressive build-up play from James Wilson, before springing through, rounding the 'keeper and applying a cool finish to level the scores.
A quick double on 79 and 82 minutes ensured the game was settled inside the 90 minutes and sent the visitors marching on in the county competition, with clinical finishes from Keane and James Wier to thank.
