The Red Devils have won the Manchester Senior Cup for the 28th time with a fine 4-1 victory over bitter rivals City. 3,261 watched as James Wilson bagged all four goals to further boost the feel good factor at United.

City took the lead at Ewen Fields, home of their second XI, as Jordi Hiwula turned home a cross from Devante Cole, son of Reds goal scoring legend Andy.

The goal was no less than City deserved as they controlled proceedings in the early stages.

United, however, staged a fine comeback, with Wilson restoring parity with an incredible solo effort prior to the break.

A neat finish from the striker out United ahead after half-time, before he raced through to bag his hat-trick.

Wilson continued to threaten and met Josh Harrop's pass with an excellent finish to make it a quarter of goals, as the teenager delivered a statement of intent to new boss Louis van Gaal.

The win hands United the MSC for the 28th time, and ensures the trophy remains with the club's second string for the fourth successive campaign.
