United legend Solskjaer big favourite to take Cardiff job

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been installed as bookmakers favourite to succeed Malky Mackay as manager of fellow Premier League club Cardiff City, following the Scotsman’s controversial departure. 

Mackay was sacked by Cardiff City following a bitter public spat with the club’s owner Vincent Tan.

Solskjaer is firm favourites with the bookmakers to succeed Mackay and take the helm with the Bluebirds, who presently sit one point above the relegation zone following a 3-0 Boxing Day defeat at the hands of Southampton.

Having previously managed Manchester United’s reserves, Solskjaer took the helm at former club Molde in 2011. He has enjoyed great success, leading the club to their first Norwegian Premier League titles in his first two seasons, and the Norwegian Cup in 2013.

As a player, Solskjaer spent 11 years with the Red Devils, and remains a hugely popular figure with the club’s supporters. He bagged 128 club goals from 367 appearances, 150 of which were as a substitute.
