A road adjacent to Old Trafford has been named after former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Waters Reach has been officially renamed Sir Alex Ferguson Way. 

The road, of course, sits near Sir Matt Busby Way.
 
The 71-year-old said: "It is a privilege and an honour to have a road named after me. You don't expect these things in life".
 
Sir Alex has also been granted the freedom of the borough of Trafford by the Conservative-controlled local authority. 
 
The former Aberdeen boss recently retired from football management after 27 incredible years at the helm of Old Trafford.
 
Marking 25 years in charge at United, the club in 2011 renamed the North Stand as the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand. 
 
The Scot led the Red Devils to unprecedented success, winning a jaw-dropping 38 trophies.

Fully deserved as the greatest manager the British game has ever seen.

Nobody will ever achieve what Sir Alex did over such a long period of time.
