United left-back Patrice Evra played 90 minutes and helped France to a clean sheet in Georgia - but Didier Deschamps men had to settle for a goalless draw in Tbilisi.

Despite controlling the game for long periods, France lacked a cutting edge in attack as their World Cup qualification hopes took a blow.

Olivier Giroud missed a golden opportunity to snatch victory at the death as he spurned a free header, though Temuri Ketsbaia's men had chances of their own against the run of play and Tornike Okriashvili’s double chance ended up crashing off the woodwork.

France are now approaching four hours of World Cup qualification time without a goal, and have mustered a disappointing return of 8 goals from 6 Group I qualifiers to date.

Deschamps’ men sit three points behind Spain, who won 2-0 in Finland. They will be heavy favourites to qualify automatically with their two remaining qualifiers against Belarus and Georgia.
