United win in Braga

Manchester United bagged three late goals to secure a fine comeback and maintain their tremendous Champions League record this season. Alan's penalty had put Braga ahead before floodlight failure plunged the stadium into darkness. The visitors returned to the field with renewed vigour, and late goals from Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez secured United's safe passage to the knock-out stages of the competition as group winners.

Alan fired Braga ahead from the penalty spot shortly after half-time. Referee Felix Brych pointed to the spot following Jonny Evans' foul on Custodio, and Alan did the honours from twelve yards.

The game was halted for twelve minutes due to floodlight failure - but United returned to action with three late goals to secure qualification to the knock-out stages with two games to spare.

Substitute van Persie restored parity with ten minutes remaining, as he latched onto Ryan Giggs' pass and scored with a fine lob after he spotted goalkeeper Bebo wandering off his line.

Rooney put United ahead five minutes later from the penalty spot. He dusted himself off after being brought down by Coelho Nuno Andre and fired into the top corner.

Hernandez sealed the win for United with a neat finish in the closing moments. This wasn't vintage stuff from United - but proved enough to keep a tremendous European run going.
