Rooney scores in Round 3

Having disposed of bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup third round, United face a trip to fierce foes again in round four. Sir Alex Ferguson will lead his side to Anfield to face Liverpool as the Red Devils aim to win the competition for a twelfth time.

United again look set to be involved in the tie of the round as they travel to Liverpool to face Kenny Dalglish’s side.

Sir Alex’s side will be eager for Cup success after dumping Man City out in the third round, whilst Liverpool progressed in easier circumstances with a 5-1 win over fellow Lancastrians Oldham Athletic.

United were last at Anfield in FA Cup action in 2006, when they suffered a 1-0 defeat in front of 44,039 supporters.

Dalglish’s first game of his current spell at Liverpool boss started with a Cup tie at Old Trafford, which United narrowly won by a single goal.

Liverpool currently sit 6th in the Premier League table and have won the FA Cup on seven occasions.

Other top ties see Sunderland square off with rivals Middlesbrough, whilst Spurs make the short trip to Watford.

Conference leaders Wrexham will host Newcastle if they can beat Brighton in a replay, whilst Everton entertain Fulham in an all Premier League affair at Goodison Park.
