Rooney hit with two-match ban for hat-trick celebration

Wayne Rooney has been slapped with a two-match ban for using offensive language during Manchester United’s 4-2 win at Upton Park. The England frontman shouted expletives into a pitchside camera after scoring his third goal and has subsequently been charged by the Football Association.

Rooney swore down the camera after bagging his and United’s third goal of the game from the penalty spot.

The two-match ban rules United out of this weekend’s league clash against Fulham and the Wembley F.A Cup semi-final against fierce rivals Manchester City.

Rooney apologised earlier in the week for any “offence that may have been caused” during his goal celebration.

The frontman has until Tuesday evening to lodge an official appeal.

I find something wrong with the FA suspending one of their biggest stars from a massive match in the English football season because he swore into a camera.

Wayne Rooney should make himself unavailable from future England matches because I think he knows that no matter how shitty he plays and how many of England's friendlies/qualifiers he misses he'll always get picked for big tournaments.

IMO, he should treat the FA as badly as they have treated him in this instance. Absolute bullshit decision.

Ah come on, was there really any need for him to make a COMPLETE w-anker of himself?

Im putting MUFC bias aside, and letting my dislike of Rooney take over.

The guy is a complete prat. And so are some of those 'fellow professionals' who have commented during the last week. All this 'everybody swears on a football field, Wayne (poor old Wayne)is just being picked on, double standrads etc.'Crap.Yes,loads of players swear every game, but that is not the issue.I am having a hard time remembering how many of the super heroes have actually been dumb enough to do it six inches from a tv camera! So now he gets a ban, which he deserves.Well done Wayne. That said, I agree with Briansmurph.Let's see Hernandez & Berba & get away from the circus that comes with Rooney & his childish antics.
