Ole off in January

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to part company with the club to become manager of Norwegian outfit Molde. The 'Baby Faced Assassin' will leave his post as United reserve boss in January 2011 to take the hot seat with his former employers.

Solskjaer will go down in United folklore for turning home the 1999 European Cup winning goal but, in truth, that doesn't begin to tell the story of the fantastic forward.

His determination, endeavour and altruism are too rare in the modern-game, and his love for United was summed up by the fact that he turned down being a bigger fish at clubs like Spurs to carry on donning the Red Jersey.

Nicknamed the 'Super Sub' for a series of fantastic, goalscoring displays from the bench, Solskjaer made 366 appearances for United, 150 of which were from the bench, and hit the net on 126 occasions.

His playing career, cut a season or two short by injury, ended in 2007 when he became Reserve Team Manager of United. Solskjaer has subsequently added to his tally of honours with the club's second-string, including the Lancashire Senior Cup.

The 37-year-old has also undertaken work in an Ambassadorial role for United.

"It's no secret that we have worked intensely to get Ole Gunnar," said Molde chairman Erik Berg.

Solskjaer leaves with our very best wishes – but almost all United fans will be hoping he returns to the club, in one capacity or another, in the future.
