Manchester United win in the San Siro

After falling behind to an early goal and surviving intense pressure Manchester united struck back to beat AC Milan 3-2 in a thrilling match in the Italian city. Paul Scholes levelled the scores with a miss hit shot just before the break and Wayne Rooney produced a masterclass in heading with two fine goals in the second half.

The Italian giants pulled one goal back towards the end but United take the advantage back to Old Trafford.

The second leg is on March 10th and the English champions have every chance of making it through to the semi finals now. The Quarter Final match had been billed as David Beckhams Return; however it was United who made all the headlines extending their unbeaten away run in Europe to a record 16 matches. 

The current team ensured that Beckhams first match against his boyhood heroes was not one he will remember with too much happiness.

Michael Carrick was sent off in the dying seconds for kicking the ball away and being booked for a second time. He will miss the second leg. This was a masterful performance in the second half and United proved that they can be a match for anybody on the day, do not rule out a third successive final.
United now face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday followed by the re-arranged visit of West Ham on Tuesday evening befor the clash with Aston Villa at Wembley inthe Carling Cup final. The season is coming to the boil very nicely!

leeds fan cometh in peace-great game and a hard fought well deserved win-rooney is in a class of his own at the moment-hope he carrys the form right through to the world cup-well done-fantastic effort at such an imposing place-thumbs down

Thanks for the nice words, its always pleasant to see a rival supporter praising us like that. To be honest I think that might of been the best match i've watched all season. The defending at times was atrocious, but we got the result and aways goals which is great. I agree that Rooney is in a class of his own at the moment. Who knew that Ronaldo would barely be missed, or that Rooney would pick up the slack for the both of them? I think he can get to 35-40 goals for the season which would be an incredible feat. First goals we've scored at the San Siro against Ac Milan too, we scored in the 88th minute in 1999 against Inter so it is an imposing place.

It looks like your boys have hit the skids a bit since you beat us. Didn't you know that beating United comes with consequences? (Sm12) But nevermind, I believe you'll win promotion this season.
