Sam Hewson missed a spot-kick, but a late strike from Ritchie de Laet made sure that a Manchester United XI weren't on the losing side at Carrow Road. 13,381 were in attendance in Norfolk at the two teams battled out a 1-1 draw.

Bryan Gunn's men started brilliantly and took the lead on 21 minutes through Tom Adeyemi.

The home fans were delighted - and their cheers amplified when goalkeeper Ben Alnwick denied United an equaliser as he blocked Hewson's penalty on 35 minutes.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men improved after the break and restored parity with five minutes remaining. Former Stoke man de Laet netted from close range to the delight of United's support.
