Something to cheer you up after the F.A Cup disappointment. Wesley Brown came through a comfortable hour with the reserves on Monday. The England international played at right-back as United brushed aside Preston North End 4-0 at Deepdale to book their place in the final of the Lancashire Senior Cup.

Brown had a quiet hour in defence as a superb second-half display from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Reds secured an easy win in the North West.

All four goals came after the break. Danny Drinkwater brooke the deadlock before Lee Martin, Nicky Ajose and young Matty James securing a fine win.

Richard Eckersley, Richie De Laet and Zoran Tosic were all in action.

PNE: Neal, Stott, Quirk, Miller, Smyth, Collins, Mayor, A Barton (sub S Davidson 74), Turner (sub McGreevy 65), Douglas, S Hart (sub J Proctor 46). Subs not used: McLaughlin, Cudworth.
 
Manchester United: Amos, Eckersley, Gill, Evans (sub Stewart 63), De Laet, Brown (sub Dudgeon 60), Eikrem (sub Ajose 70), Drinkwater, James, Martin, Tosic. Subs not used: Derbyshire, Devlin.
