Manchester United title celebrations were overshadowed by West Ham's dramatic victory at Old Trafford. Carlos Tevez's first-half strike was enough to secure a crucial victory for the Hammers that keeps Alan Curbishley's men in the Premier League at the expense of Sheffield United.

Manchester United lifted the Premiership trophy on Sunday - but their success was soured to a degree by a 1-0 home reverse to West Ham United; who completed their miracle escape from relegation with a fourth straight victory.

It's a bitter irony of football that the day the Red Devils celebrated finally wrestling back the league title after an amazing campaign; the players serve up one of their worst performances for years. United were punchless, lacked determination and never really looked like scoring passed on-form Hammers 'keeper Robert Green. Sir Alex Ferguson's men will have to improve dramatically next weekend as they take on Chelsea at Wembley.

The only goal of the game came on the stroke of half-time. It was probably always in the script. Carlos Tevez, the man at the centre of the saga that saw West Ham docked £5.5million for transfer irregularities, squeezed the ball past Edwin Van Der Sar from close range, sending 3,000 Cockneys into absolute ecstasy. West Ham then produced an impressive rearguard action to keep United's misfiring attack out and hold on for the win that clinched their Premiership survival.

Wigan's 2-1 win at Brammal Lane means it's Sheffield United that join Charlton and Watford in the Championship. Other important issues that were decided on the final day saw Spurs, Everton and Bolton Wanderers all secure themselves Uefa Cup football. Meanwhile, the Scousers, who named Robbie Fowler in attack for his last game at Anfield, finished third as they and Arsenal were both held to draws.

Anyway, forget the performance - we're deservedly champions again and it feels fantastic! The presentation was enjoyable and the players did a lap of honour whilst Fergie, who seemed to forget about Saturday's Cup Final during his speech, said a few words of congratulations.
Now, let's hope we can march down to Wembley way and clinch an historic double!
