Manchester United finish their title-winning Premiership campaign on Sunday as they entertain West Ham United before the team get their hands on the trophy. It's a crucial game for the Hammers who could still get relegated if they fail to get a point at Old Trafford. Manchester United will celebrate winning back the Premiership crown on Sunday as they entertain West Ham United.

There will be a carnival atmosphere at Old Trafford as Sir Alex Ferguson celebrates his ninth league championship with the club after what has been, arguably, his most satisfying domestic campaign.

However, the game has great significance for our opponents as West Ham United look to beat the drop. The Hammers sit three points above the relegation zone as we head into the last day of the league campaign; but despite their recent form they remain in a very precarious position. Wigan Athletic and Sheffield United, who play each other on Sunday, could both still be relegated with one of the three clubs set to join Watford and Charlton Athletic in next season's Championship.

The Latics are three points behind their two nearest rivals and will be hoping United beat the Hammers and they win at Brammal Lane. Such a set of results would send West Ham down. Conspiracy theorists have claimed that Wigan and the Blades may choreograph these results with both clubs fuming with a recent F.A ruling that saw West Ham avoid a points deduction following irregularities in the transfer that saw the club sign Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. The £5.5million fine that last year's F.A Cup finalists has been described as "lenient" and a handful of clubs could be set to take legal action against the ruling should Alan Curbishley's men beat the drop this weekend.

To add fuel to this fire; think back to the final day of the Premiership season in May 1995. Liverpool, contrary to reports that they would purposely lose, defeated Blackburn at Anfield meaning United would win the Premiership title if they won at Upton Park. On one of the most frustrating days in the club's history, West Ham held United to a draw despite Brian McClair's goal and the Premiership trophy headed to Ewood Park. Hammers fans revelled in our failure that day and sending them back down into the Championship would be sweet revenge, albeit twelve years later, for many of our supporters.

With the game having such great relevance at the wrong end of the table, Fergie has reassured Wigan and Sheffield United fans that he will field a strong team for the game. After resting almost all of his 'big name' players for the farcical game at Stamford Bridge, the likes of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edwin Van Der Sar are all expected to be involved as the Red Devils look to end a successful campaign in style.

The match will end with the trophy presentation, a lap of honour and hopefully a few words from Sir Alex.
