Manchester United are champions of England for a sixteenth time after Chelsea failed to win at Arsenal. The Red Devils sit seven points clear of their London rivals with two league games left and can now start celebrating a ninth Premiership title.

Manchester United have been crowned Premiership champions without kicking a ball.

Chelsea's failure to win away to Arsenal has secured the Red Devils the league title for a record ninth time. Sir Alex Ferguson's men now sit seven points clear of Chelsea with only two league games remaining. Gilberto put Arsenal ahead from the penalty spot at Ashburton Grove; and not even Michael Essien's late equaliser could keep Jose Mourinho's faint Premiership title hopes alive.

The success means United's lift their first Premiership title for four years. Ferguson has built a young, hungry side that has achieved great success once again this season. Spearheaded by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs; United have taken the Premiership by storm, missed out narrowly in Europe and will now hope to add the F.A Cup to their ever-growing list of honours.

Ironically, United's next game is at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. Whether either team will see fit to rest their big names remains to be seen; but Chelsea will be out for revenge and United will be desperate to, yet further, stamp their authority on the division. It promises to be a great encounter. United them finish their campaign next Sunday at home to West Ham United. The Hammers are still negotiating their Premiership survival; but the home fans will treat the match as a carnival with the Premiership trophy presentation expected after the full-time whistle.

Congratulations to Sir Alex, the playing staff and all associated with Manchester United. A fantastic achievement. The cheque-book Chelski beaten and United are champions of England once again.
