ManUtdWeb has finally brought our much prolonged "Player of the Season" poll to an end, and we have a clear winner. Over 1,000 votes were registered and some 51% of supporters feel our top performer was.....

Our 'Youngster of the Season' has also claimed the main prize following ManUtdWeb's end-of-season poll.

The Portuguese international made some 47 club appearances over the course of the season and his pace and skill proved a potent threat throughout the season as he notched up 12 goals. Ronaldo's success is particularly admirable when you consider the personal circumstances he suffered that could easily have hampered his form. The 21-year-old suffered the tragic loss of his father and was later subject to a high-profile rape allegation which was eventually proved to be false.

His double award success is perhaps testimony to United supporters' indifferent feeling towards the England national team. Ronaldo became something of a 'hate figure' for the tabloid press as he shouldered the blame from the press for Wayne Rooney's dismissal in Portugal's quarter-final showdown with Sven's men. The player has suffered torrents of abuse from Premiership fans across the country this season, but is clearly very close to the hearts of the Red Army!

Ronaldo picked up some 51% of the vote, easily beating off the challenge of Wayne Rooney who enjoyed a 23% share of the vote. Edwin Van Der Sar (7%), Ryan Giggs (7%), Ji-Sung Park (7%) and former striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy (5%) were the other contenders.
