Wayne Rooney is set to severe commercial links with the Football Association, according to reports. The 20-year-old England striker has been left fuming after receiving a three-match suspension from the F.A for a red card picked up in a pre-season friendly against Porto.

Reports suggest that Wayne Rooney has threatened to pull out of commercial activates with the Football Association after being slapped with a three-match ban for his sending-off at the Amsterdam Tournament.

The England international saw red for a some what innocuous aerial challenge in a pre-season friendly against Porto. Paul Scholes was also sent-off as the Red Devils secured a 3-1 win in Holland, though there can be little doubt his fierce challenge deserved an early bath.

Referee Ruud Bossen filed a report on the game to the Dutch Football Association, detailing the two dismissals, and this was forwarded to the F.A who have handed both players suspensions.

Rooney, understandably, is furious with the F.A. Speculation suggests the player's agent, Paul Stretford, has sent a letter to Soho Square underlining his client's dismay at the decision and threatening that the 20-year-old may refuse to take part in any further off-field activities to aid English football's governing body.

The former Everton striker will miss United's Premiership outings against Charlton Athletic, Watford and Spurs.
