Sir Alex Ferguson has delivered a clear message to clubs targetting a summer move for Ruud Van Nistelrooy. The United boss insists he will not be moved on his valuation for the player despite their end-of-season fall-out.

Despite his fall-out with Sir Alex Ferguson, Ruud Van Nistelrooy will not be allowed to leave Old Trafford at a bargain price.

The Dutch forward looks set to leave United are being dropped from first-team affairs towards the business end of last season, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid tipped to lead the race for the player's signature.

However, Fergie has confirmed that United expect their valuation of the 30-year-old to be matched.

"There's a possibility that Ruud will go," he said. "There have been bits of interest in him, but no one at this moment has reached our asking price.

"It's no surprise, really, that he asked to go, but when you see that Andriy Shevchenko went for £30m, he's a similar age to Ruud and their record in Europe is almost identical. You can absolutely guarantee that we're not going to give Ruud away."
